Volunteer work in Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina: Social projects
Volunteer work - Social projects: Barrio Vivero
La Montaña started a volunteer project at “barrio Vivero”, in one of the poorer neighbourhoods in Bariloche. In 2005 the government, helped by a donation from the famous American actor Paul Newman, pulled down the old wooden houses and replaced them with small houses of stone.
Some things that the volunteers have done include workshops in topics of interest for the kids, teaching English, computing or other subjects at the primary school situated in the neighbourhood, working in the garden that the school has, painting the school, making curtains etc.

Línea Sur
Along route number 23, most commonly known as the “linea sur”, there are several small towns where you can do volunteer work. hese towns are part of the steppe, one of the most remote areas in Patagonia. The possibilities there are to work at the schools (some of them are “escuela hogar”, where children sleep in); to help an “hogar de niños” or even to help out the town by helping with the building of houses or restoration of parks.
Some of these towns are communities of indigenous people, protected areas. |
